Twenty-seven

Twenty Seven
(Inspired by Amy Jade Winehouse)

Old soul aching-
Too much pain
for one voice to carry.

Notes played hard
Feel the tears behind
each lyric's sigh

as angels bow and break
beneath a silent sky.

  1. Lots of intensity in these words, Lisa. Each stanza builds the emotion. I like this one and can FEEL it!

  2. Thank you Mary. It was only recently that I actually heard some of Amy Winehouse's music, she was such a talented singer, so sad she died so young.

    1. Thank you. I was listening to her sing with Tony Bennett, her voice gives me chills and for the world to lose such a talented person is such a tragedy.

  7. Yeah - I could hear her voice. So sad it's stilled - she had a vigorous joy giving voice with which to sing the blues. This is a true blues. The thing about them is you can just groove on one line until it becomes part of your DNA. Well done. I don't see many of these. I wrote one too today - engaging Adele (sort of). Thanks.

    1. So sad many never heard the power of her voice, a terrible loss. Adele has a very emotionally moving voice, I did a painting of her back in the spring while listening to her cd.

  11. Doesn't it seem like those "old souls" pass away early in life so often? She definitely was unique. Very cool piece Lisa.

    1. It does seem they do pass away young, for some it must be just too much to try and handle all that emotion. Thank you Jennifer.

  13. She did have such great talent. It's a real shame she's gone so young. This is an excellent tribute to her!
