Impossible to save-
Always a darkness
surrounding
the being of you
Hell bent
on destruction
your own
as well as mine
and anything worth loving
Part of you
now gone-
Does the distant memory
Still hold what could have been?
All the things
which made our lives
surround me in the stillness
couldn’t make you see
what mattered
Never enough
to fill the emptiness
of the years before
I arrived.
How I have starved –
Emaciated by want
and need .
hold the years of us close
and you will find
the love which always beckons
in the ghosts we left behind.
Unrequited love can be the beginnings of a second chance of having the fun again! It happens many times to others! Great lines Lisa!

This stanza tells a whole story in an of itself:
ReplyDeleteNever enough
to fill the emptiness
of the years before
I arrived.
Excellent really... the idea of the ghosts that are left behind really intrigues me. I think somehow we all have them in our midst from people we have known in the past!
ReplyDeleteThese ghosts are better left behind but shall never be forgotten for they will remind us of how we become strong in love today. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeletethis is excellent.. all those emotions, and you write them down so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely remarkable...!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very happy Easter :D

True emptiness echoes inside...I can feel it in these lines....
ReplyDeleteThat longing in the starvation imagery is gripping....
ReplyDeleteA very dark poem, well written.
ReplyDeleteLove will be there forever once it touched our hearts....beautiful!
