Sun

You burn
right through me-

Bright star of hope-

I am growing thin on promises,
cold in your absence

Digging deep
into a frozen wasteland
always a new beginning rises.

Another past
I leave behind
arms outstretched,
I ask for more.

Insatiable being
time can’t hold back
the desire to shine.

Still the shadows,
lock me in.

Forest of discontent
limbs offering another
stranglehold-

You burn
right through me-

Will I ever be free?
