Fairytales (Mindlovemisery prompt 19 Food- deprivation;apathy)

Fairytales

Sweetness
to be savored
before the bitterness
came home in a heartbeat.

The steady rhythym
lulling into a sleepy surrender
purging the emptiness
with once upon a times
and happily ever afters.

Fed on fairytales-
still hungry.

  1. Unfortunately fairy tales are not reality. Would be nice if people always did live happily ever after. The last two lines are strong ones...often reality gets in the way and there is an insatiable hunger for something more.

  2. Bitterness, when it should be sweet and living happily ever after ~ Unfortunately life bites and we are definitely left hungry for more ~

  4. fairy tales can be less filling when we get old and realize they are just stories...and seldom do happily ever afters happen...i do still believe in magic though...smiles.

  5. oof...that first stanza packs a punch! Love it. We do need what's "real" in order to be truly satisfied. Great writing Lisa!

  6. I love your take Lisa! Brilliant interpretation =) When you really look at fairytales and all these other idealized states they are actually quite creepy. Maybe that is just me who thinks that way lol Certainly life never seems to live up to those ideals and to me those ideals suck the meaning out of life. There is something to be said for the struggles and the ups and downs, I think they are crucial
