Words

Speak to me
in this silent moment
of remembering
all that has passed.
Help me tell the
story
I own-
bound in some ways
frayed in others.
As I came alone
I will leave alone
with attachments,
with loss that lifted
my spirit in search
of whys
and pleas for no more.
It was during this
journey,
in the stillness of a
reflective
oasis, goodbyes
were remembered
with that ache of
emptiness
time can soothe
but not erase.
It's as if a hush falls as I read these words...of something somber and sacred about to be told. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the same kind of silence that ironically, I just wrote about! I LOVE this..." in the stillness of a reflective oasis,"
ReplyDeleteOh, Susan, this is beautiful. One of the best responses to the prompt, in fact. "With that emptiness time can soothe but not erase," such a lovely, bittersweet ending. Peace, Amy
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful words you weaved. Loved it
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much.
ReplyDeleteI specially like these lines:
ReplyDeletetime can soothe
but not erase.
Lovely share, thank you ~
This is beautiful and deep. Many ways your words could be interpretted, I think. I take it as someone reflecting at the end of his/her life. Or it could be someone reflecting at the end of a relationship or a particular period of one's life.
ReplyDelete"As I came alone
I will leave alone
with attachments."
This is one of my favorites of yours!
Really nice write. As the comments show, your words suit many different kinds of experiences yet share the emotions of all.
