I Am

I Am
By
Lisa A.Williams

I would like to hear it-

Your silent sung song held so tightly

Living in an image-
stone heart hutch keeps you distanced

I know there is pain
flames of wishes blown away

I know there is love
buried deep in memory

Regret rides the moon-
celestial gods hold all that is dear

They wait upon silence for your voice
 to fill the sky with
 I am...

  1. Beautiful. Do you know the Walt Whitman line about the 'other I Am'? It is one of my favorites. Wonderful to see it here. Amazing how writing words can open the door to ones true identity and the real self so many keep hidden.

  6. ... stone heart hutch... what an apt and clever phrase. You outdid yourself with this one. Brief and complete, just the way I like a poem to be.

  12. Back again, from Poets United this time. Still find this one beautiful piece of writing. The song sung to self should always be so, filled with understanding, acceptance, and encouragement.

The image creates feeling, sound and scent as well, I really like this powerful and provocative line. The stone hutch line is another strong one as well. Thanks for sharing this poem.
