From Choke to Storm

From Choke to Storm
By
Lisa A.Williams

Held back
by the choke-

The voice
which was hers,

so lost in the storm

words forgotten
buried deep.

Branded by memory-
all those things
which made up a lilfe.

Feeling the thunder
her world trembled,
an avalanche threatening
to bury her beneath.

She would feel the choke,
be lost in the storm again
but
the sky would clear,
the rains would cease.

She would raise her voice
and sing
her own song,
so long in the making.

  1. I like very much the strength in this poem, Lisa. Despite all obstacles, she claims her voice and rises above!

    1. Thanks Mary! I think your suggestion about getting rid of the word verification is a good one, very distracting.

  2. Once choked, one remembers forever. But this one, she learns enough to move on, grow, become more. You do the topic justice.

  3. Her voice, even raw from being stifled, sounds out beautifully.
