Heaven

Heaven

Weave me a heaven
which will sustain me-

Fill my sky with cloudless blue
on those lost days when tears
cannot be held between the words.

Weave me a heaven
where I remember
you as you once were,

filled to the marrow
with hope and endless
desires no hell could extinguish.

Weave me a heaven
where breath is sacred
and when the snow falls
I am not hidden in the cold
searching for that island

surrounded by old dreams
that now awaken me in the
stillness under the moonlit sky.

  2. I agree with Susie about the repetition. The line that really got me was Weave me a heaven/where I remember/you as you once were,

filled to the marrow/with hope and endless /desires no hell could extinguish.

Elegant, fulfilling to the reader. Loved this, Lisa. I've enjoyed your visits recently at SLP! Amy

  3. I just commented but wordpress has started signing me out several times daily instead of every few days so it was deleted at least I think so. Lisa this is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read (I can think of nothing that compares). The opening stanzas were so gorgeous that I just sat there jaw hanging open rereading. Stunning! I am writing poem right now and when I took a break to visit you I thought to myself damn why can't write like this! I don't think you realize how talented you are, I really look up to you you are amazing =)
